Chennai Super Kings Appoint Sridharan Sriram as Assistant Bowling Coach for IPL Season
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has made an exciting announcement by appointing Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Sriram, a former India all-rounder, joins the franchise’s coaching staff, led by Stephen Fleming, and will work alongside bowling coach Eric Simons.
Sriram’s cricketing career spanned over a decade, with eight One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for India between 2000 and 2004. He has an impressive coaching background, having served as Australia’s assistant coach for six years before leaving the role in 2022. In addition, he has been involved with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the past.
The former cricketer is known for his influence on several high-profile spinners, including leg-spinner Adam Zampa, left-arm spinner Ashton Agar, and veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon. He has also helped all-rounder Glenn Maxwell improve his part-time spin during his tenure as Australia’s coach.
With a plethora of spinners in CSK’s squad, including Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Shreyas Gopal, and Ravindra Jadeja, Sriram’s expertise will be crucial in utilizing their services, especially at the CSK’s home turf, the Chepauk Stadium.
