"Indian Team Management Delighted With Near-Perfect Execution Against Pakistan, Says Jatin Paranjape"

Mumbai, February 24 – As the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy continued to witness some thrilling matches, India’s win over Pakistan has left many impressed, with former India cricketer and national selector Jatin Paranjape stating that the team management will be ‘thrilled’ with the near-flawless execution from the Rohit Sharma-led side.

India’s Clinical Victory

The Indian team put on a clinical display to chase down Pakistan’s 242-run target in just 45.1 overs, with Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100 propelling the Men in Blue to a resounding six-wicket victory. Kohli’s 51st ODI century took his total tally to 14,000 runs in the format, a feat that left fans and experts alike in awe.

Pitches Complimented by Indian Bowlers

According to Paranjape, the Indian team management will be delighted with the way the bowlers read the pitch well, taking the pace off the deliveries to perfection. "Hardik Pandya was great through the spells that he bowled. It was good to see him backing the natural outswinger that he has and he got the all-important wicket of Babar Azam, who looked in sublime touch," said the former India cricketer.

Kohli’s Unbeaten Centuryану

Kohli’s unbeaten century, which came off 111 balls, was a masterclass display of batting, with seven boundaries. He shared partnerships of 69 and 114 with Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, who made 46 and 56, respectively. "Kohli was magical and maneuvered the team home like the great champion that he is," added Paranjape.

India’s Worrying Injury Concerns

However, Paranjape did raise concerns over India’s slight injury worries, particularly with Mohammad Shami’s shin issue and Rohit Sharma’s hamstring troubles. "India have a couple of worries with Shami’s shin that clearly restricted him and also seeing Rohit Sharma moving around gingerly because of the hamstring is worrying. The next game will probably be the most important indicator of India’s form – against the brave Kiwis who will never give up," he said.

Next Up: India vs New Zealand

With a guaranteed spot in the semi-finals, India will look to address their injury concerns and put on a strong show against New Zealand on March 2. As Paranjape concluded, "Lethal when settled, Virat Kohli dominates Pakistan at ICC events like no other."
