In a harrowing incident, two women, who were reported missing Kerala’s Thiruvala, are suspected by police to have been killed in a case of ‘human sacrifice.’
A couple, identified as residents of Pathanamthitta district, have been rounded up by the police in primary investigations.
The couple and one more person, alleged to be their agent, have been arrested today, as more details emerged from the recorded statements.
‘The body of the lady who disappeared last month will be exhumed and will be sent for forensic experts. The motive of the crime has been confessed as human sacrifice and we got it from the statement of the couple and it was done for financial betterment,’ said Kochi police told news agencies.
The Ernakulam police had earlier started a probe after a 50-year-old woman went missing on September 27.
After tracing the mobile call tower to Thiruvala, the police found that the woman was in touch with , an agent, allegedly working for the couple.
Another woman, also in her 50s, went missing from the same area. The calls made by her were also traced to the same agent.
The victim’s throats were slit, and their bodies were chopped into pieces and buried in different locations in Thiruvalla, the police said.
The agent was first taken into custody, before the couple.
The probe team is said to be recovering the bodies of the two women to further the investigation.
