On Monday, Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa (78) announced his resignation from the top job in an emotional speech.
A four-time CM, the seasoned Lingayat leader was widely speculated to have been mulling over the decision on his future, when his government completed two years in the state, leading upto the current developments.
The buzz about his exit became louder when the CM suddenly flew to Delhi earlier this month to meet with the BJP top brass, amid talk of a tussle within the party’s senior leaders.
The BJP is expected to send a team of conveners for the legislative party meeting to elect Mr. Yediyurappa’s successor.
