Dussehra is one of the major Hindu festivals in India, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm, signifying the victory of good over evil. It marks Lord Rama’s victory over the evil King Ravana and the resurgence of hope and faith in the world.
In different parts of the country, several poojas and spiritual processions take place as it marks the end of the Durga Puja celebrations. In the northern part of the country, grand Ramleelas are organised on Dussehra and people bid farewell to the goddess. Huge effigies of Ravana, Meghnada and Kumbhakarana are burnt on Vijayadashami and people mark new beginnings on this day, hoping it will bring them good fortune and prosperity.
With the Covid-19 pandemic affecting our lives, it is advisable to keep a distance during the festive season.
