Headline: "Ankle is Starting to Come Good": Pat Cummins Hoping to Get Fit in Time for IPL 2025

Summary: Australian pace bowler Pat Cummins, who ruled out of the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 due to an ankle injury, is optimistic about his recovery and is eyeing a competitive comeback through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where he will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad. Cummins, who also captains the Australian Test and ODI teams, has been sidelined due to an ankle injury that also forced him to miss Australia’s two-match Test series against India and the ongoing Champions Trophy.

Recovery Update: Cummins has been undergoing rehabilitation in the gym and has started running again, with the aim of starting bowling in the next few days. He believes that the high-intensity nature of the IPL will serve as an ideal platform for him to prepare for the ICC World Test Championship final against South Africa, starting June 11 at Lord’s.

IPL 2025: Cummins will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025, which begins on March 22. SRH will start their campaign on March 23 against Rajasthan Royals.

Quotes: "It’s been an amazing month or so just having full focus on family time and not having to do too much training or have my eye on a tour. Just being totally present has been really special," Cummins said in an interview with cricket.com.au.

Regarding his recovery, Cummins added, "The ankle is starting to come good… It’s a funny one — it’s not like a hamstring where you need six weeks (to recover). It’s one of those ones where it really just needs a bit (more) rest to settle down. I’ve been doing loads of rehab in the gym and trying to build back up slowly. Especially for a fast bowler, you’ve got to kind of step towards things. Once you have a bit of time off, you’ve got to start running again, and then you’ve got to start bowling, and start building up."

Analysis: Cummins’ optimism about his recovery is a positive sign, and his experience of playing through pain in the fifth and final Test against India in Sydney suggests that he is a fighter. The high-intensity nature of the IPL will indeed be an ideal platform for him to test his fitness and prepare for the World Test Championship final. As he aims to get fit in time for IPL 2025, Cummins’ fans will be keeping a close eye on his progress, eager to see him lead Sunrisers Hyderabad and make a successful comeback in international cricket.
